As noted earlier today, WWE.com reported that NXT World Champion Tommaso Ciampa will be undergoing neck surgery on Thursday.
In an update, it appears the situation is a pretty serious one, as Ciampa will reportedly be out of action for a “significant amount of time,” according to a report by Dave Meltzer and F4WOnline.com.
According to the longtime editor of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Ciampa will reportedly be out of action “for a long, long time,” although the exact length of his absence is unknown. It was also noted that Ciampa was originally going to be out of action after working through WrestleMania 35, however the speculation is that his situation got bad enough to decide to have the surgery now instead.
As we also reported earlier today, Ciampa has been pulled from upcoming scheduled bookings for WLW and Chaotic Wrestling.
