Mankato, Minn. – Head wrestling coach Jim Makovsky has announced that three additional student-athletes have signed NCAA Letters of Intent to attend Minnesota State University.
Eliot Jurries (Jackson County Central), Mitchell Hartwig (Glencoe-Silver Lake/Lester Prairie) and Michael Kessler (St. Michael-Albertville) will join the Mavericks this fall.
With the addition of three more student-athletes, MSU’s recruiting class now sits at eight. Jurries, Hartwig and Kessler join Adam Cooling (Madelia, Minn.), Weston Droegemueller (Wayzata, Minn.), Gabe Flandrick (Somerset, Wis.), Tanner Mills (Albertville, Minn.) and Darick Vancura (Jackson, Minn.).
Jurries, who is projected to wrestle at 133 or 141-lbs for MSU, compiled a 161-48 career record and was the 2013 state champion while at Jackson County Central. A two-time state qualifier, Jurries was also a member of the 2011-12 Guillotine All-State Academic Team. Jurries also placed third in the 2011 and 2012 Rumble on the Red, along with a pair of fifth-place finishes in the 2010 and 2012 Christmas tournament.
Hartwig finished his high school career with a 150-44 record and is fresh off of a state title at 145-lbs. The two-time state qualifier will compete at 149-lbs for MSU. Hartwig’s high school team received a gold plaque for a 3.8 GPA this past season.
Kessler is set to graduate from St. Michael Alberville with an 88-20 career record, where he placed fourth at the state tournament this past season and was a Greco state runner-up. Kessler, an academic all-conference member, will wrestler at 285-lbs for the Mavericks.
All signings are contingent upon admission to MSU and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Clearinghouse.
