Some news outlets were reporting a while back that Smackdown stars Rusev and Lana had asked for their releases from WWE. Some hypothesized that these rumors were true after Rusev was beaten by Randy Orton in seconds at SummerSlam, and after Lana was left off of the show entirely. The rumors intensified when The Dirty Sheets podcast also claimed that the wrestling couple asked to be let go from the company due to their current positions. Luckily for fans of the two wrestlers, it appears that those rumors were a bit exaggerated and neither Rusev or Lana have decided to walk away form WWE at the moment.
The major report from the Dirty Sheets podcast claimed that Rusev had a huge altercation with the writing staff for Smackdown. They also said that Smackdown’s head writer Brian “Road Dogg” James had to calm Rusev down because of how heated the discussion between the two sides got. They also claimed that Randy Orton supported Rusev’s decision to leave, adding that he isn’t pleased with how the company has been using himself, but doesn’t intend on leaving due to the money he is making. Despite all of these rumors, both Rusev and Lana went on Twitter to declare the reports as false. We’ll keep this story updated if anymore news gets out.

In other news, pop singer Bruno Mars shared an interesting tidbit of trivia. Mars, born Peter Hernandez, revealed how he was given the first half of his stage name. The singer tweeted that he had been nicknamed “Bruno” after the legendary professional wrestler Bruno Sammartino. As if that was not enough, Mars revealed on social media that he actually got the chance to meet his namesake in Pittsburgh a while back. Mars has said in the past that his father gave him the “Bruno” name due to his resemblance of the wrestler. Sammartino is regarded as one of the greatest wrestlers of his time, and the “Bruno” name has worked out well for both of them thus far.
I was nicknamed after this professional wrestler Bruno Sammartino. Tonight in Pittsburgh I had the honor of meeting him! ?? #OG #24kmagicworldtour
