Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks made a groundbreaking announcement earlier this year when they confirmed that they will be partnering up with Tony Khan to launch a new promotion called All Elite Wrestling. The boys are promising to “change the universe” once AEW has its Double or Nothing event on May 25th, and a ton of huge stars like Chris Jericho and PAC have already signed on to join AEW. There are still questions about AEW that have gone unanswered so far – including an answer relating to a possible TV deal – but Cody addressed the concern over the future of the popular Being the Elite YouTube series, and he also revealed that there are even more competitors on their way to the upstart promotion.
The new Executive Vice President of All Elite Wrestling spoke with SEScoops and answered some questions relating to the new promotion. Rhodes said that he and The Young Bucks have been working hard to make sure that all of the free agents in wrestling don’t just end up signing with WWE or Ring of Honor. The three of them have been scouting talent from multiple different promotions. In fact, Rhodes noted during the interview that four more wrestlers signed on with AEW as of yesterday. Cody did not mention the names of the athletes that he was able to secure to AEW deals, but those details will likely be revealed before Double or Nothing. Expect even more All Elite Wrestling roster signings to be unveiled as the weeks go by.
“I signed four people today alone. So we’re doing everything in our power
and I think we cover a lot of ends of the spectrum for what we look
for. Matt and Nick look for a very next-generation style of talent and I
look for a very traditional style of talent. We meet somewhere in the
middle. I really like that the three of us are able to get out there and
scout. This has been the last few weeks, it’s still very new to me.
I’ve never been ‘this guy.’ Making the calls, ‘here’s what we’re
offering, please let us know if you have any questions, let me get you
the legal’ – some of this stuff to me, I get a kick out of it, this is
my dream job.” Cody said.
In that same interview, Cody talked about Being the Elite and what the fate of the beloved YouTube series may be once AEW is up and running completely. Since AEW does not have a secure TV deal yet, Rhodes says that all of the behind the scenes footage leading up to Double or Nothing will be included in upcoming Being the Elite episodes. Fortunately for fans of the show, Cody is confident that AEW and Being the Elite will go “hand in hand.” Cody praised The Young Bucks for their work on the show and claimed that it has even helped increase the business and popularity of wrestlers featured on the show. Regardless of where Being the Elite ends up, it does not sound like The Elite are ready to put an end to the series any time soon.
“I am sure that Being the Elite will be part of AEW as long as both of
them are around because it’s massively important to all of us. Sometimes
it’s tricky to film because [The Bucks] always got that phone in your face,
but it’s worth it. I think everyone whose ever been on Being the Elite
for a second has benefited.” Rhodes said in regards to Being the Elite’s future.
