INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Minnesota State wrestling finds itself ranked 19th in the latest edition of the NCAA DII Wrestling Coaches Association Poll.

The Mavericks dropped to no. 19 after previously being rated tied for 16th in the preseason edition of the poll. The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference is well represented with St. Cloud State holding down the top spot as the no.1 rated team in the nation, Upper Iowa is 9th, Augustana is tied for 21st, and the University of Mary is tied for 23rd. MSU Moorhead is receiving votes in the poll.
Minnesota State has two wrestlers ranked nationally. Corey Abernathy (Sr., 184 lbs.) is the highest rated Maverick, ranked fourth at the 184 pound weight class. The Waverly, Iowa native was an All-American last season and currently holds a 3-1 record after wrestling at the Luther College Open. Matthew Blome (So., 197 lbs.) is ranked fifth at 197 pounds. Blome has started his sophomore year 3-1, and has a second place finish to his name after competing at the Augsburg College open last weekend.

The Mavericks will next wrestle their first dual meet of the season Thursday, November 30th, at Taylor Center against St. Johns.
