A fundraiser has been launched to help pay for the burial and funeral expenses for the young Texas newlyweds who were killed in a car crash moments after leaving the courtroom where they had just been married.

The couple had been married by the local Justice of Peace in Orange, Texas and were on their way to the courthouse on Friday, Aug. 23 to file their license, according to the GoFundMe page established to raise funds.

The young couple, Harley Joe Morgan, 19, and Rhiannon Marie Morgan, 20, were pulling out of the courtroom in Orange County, Texas on Friday when there was a crash with a pickup truck, local news outlet KFDM reported. According to KFDM’s report, the young couple was killed at the scene.

According to The Beaumont Enterprise, many in the wedding party had been following behind the couple and witnessed the crash, including the groom’s mother. The pickup that hit the couple’s car had been pulling a trailer loaded with a tractor. The pickup driver was reportedly not injured in the crash.

KFDM reported that the couple were high school sweethearts and had plans for a bigger ceremony in December.

According to the GoFundMe page, there is no insurance to cover the costs of the burial, funeral or other expenses. The page is seeking to raise $18,000. As of this writing, donors had already pitched in $2,000.

“The Newlyweds will be together for their funeral service as well as together in burial,” the page says. “They are Childhood Sweethearts who will be together forever.”
