Anthony Martial and Nemanja Matic were not spotted alongside their Manchester United team-mates as the squad arrived at the Lowry Hotel on Saturday night.
Both men feature in Ole Gunnar-Solskjaer’s 20-man squad for the crunch clash with Premier League title chasers Liverpool, however they were not seen as the team checked in ahead of the match.
It remains unclear whether the duo are injured or simply arrived at a different time – there was also no sign of Phil Jones, Antonio Valencia or Matteo Darmian.
Martial has been sidelined with a muscle injury suffered during the defeat to Paris Saint-Germain last week, and Solskjaer was hopeful he would return ahead of schedule for the Liverpool clash.
Matic, on the other hand, is not understood to have any injury problems and trained with the Red Devils on Friday.
Jesse Lingard was among the players pictured at The Lowry Hotel, following his recovery from a hamstring injury during the PSG defeat.
The England international joined Martial on the treatment table and also missed the FA Cup victory over Chelsea, but now looks likely to feature against Liverpool.
“We’re looking OK,” Solskjaer said of the squad. “I hope Jesse will be OK. More hope and think that Anthony will be OK, but we’ve got two more days so they’ve got to get through these two sessions.
“They’ve not been part of it yet but they’ve been doing some recovery work.
“Anthony’s was a different muscle, so we think that he might be ready and hope that Jesse will.”
