The final of the Carabao Cup will be contested by two of its most successful teams, Chelsea and Manchester City LIVE on talkSPORT.
Pep Guardiola’s side are the current holders and head into Sunday’s match at Wembley as firm favourites, even more so following the recent match between the two, which ended 6-0 to City.
In recent seasons, the blue half of Manchester have won three of the past five finals and will try to make it four against Maurizio Sarri’s strugglers.
But which of the recent finals have been the best? talkSPORT.com ranks the best finals in this competition from the past decade.
10. Manchester United 0-0 Tottenham (United win 4-1 on penalties) – 2009
Tottenham entered their second League Cup final in as many years and had the rare distinction of being the holders. Sir Alex Ferguson gave Ben Foster the chance to play in goal and he did not disappoint, making a fine save to deny Aaron Lennon and then keeping out Jamie O’Hara in the shootout as United emerged victorious in this low quality encounter.
9. Swansea City 5-0 Bradford City – 2013
Bradford had beaten Premier League trio Wigan, Arsenal and Aston Villa en route. However, Swansea would be a step too far. Michael Laudrup’s side were ruthless as they recorded the biggest win in the history of the final.
Two goals each from Nathan Dyer and Jonathan De Guzman, plus a Michu effort, meant the cup had been won for the first time by a non-English team.
8. Chelsea 2-0 Tottenham – 2015
Jose Mourinho picked up his first piece of silverware in his second spell at the club as Chelsea got a measure of revenge on Spurs, having lost to them in this competition at the same stage, seven years earlier.
John Terry netted on the stroke of half time and Diego Costa put away a second, in a season in which they also won the Premier League.
7. Manchester United 2-1 Aston Villa – 2010
United retained the trophy they had won the previous year and it was an English strike-force which done the damage. James Milner gave Aston Villa a surprise lead in the fifth minute from the penalty spot, but Michael Owen levelled past Brad Friedel.
Wayne Rooney, who had been in a rich vein of goal-scoring form, came on for Owen and headed in the winner.
6. Manchester City 3-1 Sunderland – 2014
For one match, Sunderland put their relegation woes out of mind as they went in search of their first major trophy since 1973. And they made the perfect start in their quest to do just that, taking a deserved lead on 10 minutes through Fabio Borini.
They held on to that advantage until the 55th minute, but Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri struck in quick succession, before Jesus Navas added a third in stoppage time.
5. Liverpool 1-1 Manchester City (City win 3-1 on penalties) – 2016
Willy Caballero could be in goal for Chelsea this Sunday and he will have fond memories of his past experiences.
Chosen ahead of Joe Hart, the Argentine saved from Lucas, Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana in the shoot-out as City won for the second time in three seasons.
4. Arsenal 0-3 Manchester City – 2018
City had been imperious for much of the season, dominate in the Premier League, they were equally impressive in the League Cup.
Pep Guardiola collected his first trophy at the club, as a toothless Arsenal were swept aside, with goals from Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany and David Silva doing the damage.
3. Liverpool 2-2 Cardiff (Liverpool win 3-2 on penalties) – 2012
Steven Gerrard and his cousin, Anthony would both miss penalties in the shootout. However, it was the latter’s failure to convert that proved decisive as Liverpool won their eighth League Cup.
2. Arsenal 1-2 Birmingham – 2011
Calamitous defending from the Gunners helped Alex McLeish and his team earn a dramatic win at Wembley. A breakdown in communication between goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny and Laurent Koscielny allowed Obafemi Martins to pounce and take advantage of a costly mistake for a famous victory.
1. Manchester United 3-2 Southampton – 2017
Zlatan Ibrahimovic was the star man for United as they secured a fifth League Cup success. The Swede struck a superb free kick and then a measured finish from Jesse Lingard made it 2-0.
A brace from Manolo Gabbiadini pulled the Saints level, but Ibrahimovic grabbed his second late on.
