West Ham chairman David Gold has confirmed Diafra Sakho will not leave the club following interest from Rennes.

The 27-year-old was in France this morning to complete a medical with the French club, pending a decision from West Ham as to whether or not they’d allow him to leave. However, the club have now confirmed he is an ‘integral part of the team’.

Rennes had made a £9m bid for the Senegalese forward’s services, though that offer was then gazumped by Crystal Palace who offered the Hammers £10m whilst he was undergoing a medical at Les Rouges et Noirs.

Despite Gold’s comments, Sakho had passed his medical in France and began discussing personal terms with the club. Though the deal is now likely to be off given the London based club revealing he is not for sale.

Taking to Twitter, chairman David Gold said: “Diafra Sakho is not for sale in this transfer window. He is an integral part of our first team squad and will play a part in our recovery.”
