UEFA’s control, ethics and disciplinary body has banned Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos for two games for getting a yellow card on purpose.

Ramos received a booking in the latter stages of Real’s 2-1 Champions League first leg win at Ajax, earning a ban for the second leg.

It was deemed this was an attempt to ensure a ban would not be hanging over him later in the competition.

As a result, Los Blancos’ talisman will also miss the first leg of their quarter-final – assuming his side complete the job against Ajax and get there.

The ban includes his automatic one-match suspension for repeated yellow cards.
