Trent Alexander-Arnold’s three assists in Liverpool’s 5-0 thrashing over Watford put him in the record books as the youngest player to achieve the feat in one Premier League match.
At just 20 years and 143 days, the full-back took his assist tally for the season to six in just 18 appearances.
He set up both of Sadio Mane goals, as well as one for Virgil van Dijk from a second-half free kick, to help Liverpool maintain their position at the top of the league, one point above Manchester City.
Alexander-Arnold has been out for the past four weeks with a knee injury, but returned for the 0-0 draw against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
Jurgen Klopp, who did not play Alexander-Arnold in Liverpool‘s 0-0 draw at Manchester United on Sunday, hailed the performance of his defender.
“All the crosses were outstanding,” Klopp said.
“So it’s just a special night. He scored a fantastic free-kick the last time against Watford.
“I can’t remember the last time he got a hat-trick of assists. He got three right?”
Next up for Liverpool, is the Merseyside derby against Everton on Sunday.
