Speaking in an exclusive interview with L’Équipe yesterday, OGC Nice revelation Jean Michel Seri admitted that he dreams of playing for Barcelona.

Nice managed to sign the player for just €700k, beating Olympiakos, Stuttgart, Udinese, Sporting Lisbon, St Étienne, Marseille, Monaco, Lille and Valencia in an enormous race to sign the Ivorian midfielder. Seri now has a €40m release clause in his OGC Nice contract.

On OGC Nice’s holy midfield trinity of Koziello, Seri and Mendy…

All three of us have a lot of ambition and we want to assume our roles independently of others. We want to show each match that we are the best midfield. Papy [Mendy] is lively, he stabilises the team and cuts out counter attacks: Vincent [Koziello] has a great volume to his game and stops at nothing, he is remarkable: he will have a great career. Me, I am trying to bring the team forward, I have good technical qualities and good vision.

On his Barcelona dream…

I do not know what is going to happen one day, but I want to give myself the opportunity to get there, to accomplish my dream… Do you not have to go to a big French club before? Not necessarily, why? Everything is possible in football, Barcelona could send scouts to Nice vs PSG and if I play a great game… Who would have said that Anthony Martial would go in a few days to Manchester United?
