Our colleagues at Eurosport report that Ligue 1 side AS Monaco have re-entered into contact for the possible transfer of Lille central defender Adama Soumaoro next month.
The 27-year-old had already agreed to join the Principality side last summer, only for him to supposedly fail a medical.
In reality, Eurosport claim that it was manager Leonardo Jardim who put a veto to the deal instead and the fact that this move is back on the cards suggests that the Portuguese tactician’s influence is diminishing by the day at Monaco.
With the 14th best defence in Ligue 1 currently, having conceded 25 goals, Monaco must enact changes at the back. The board are again looking to Soumaoro, who has played just five matches in Ligue 1 this season and did start on Tuesday night at the Stade Louis II as Lille beat Monaco 3-0 in the Coupe de la Ligue.
Last summer, Jardim preferred to stick with Kamil Glik at centre-back and bring in Guillermo Maripan despite the fact that a deal with Soumaoro was agreed for €13m.
Should Jardim fail to obtain a positive result this weekend against Lille, local reports suggest he will be sacked.
If this happens, does Adama Soumaoro to Monaco follow?
