In a club communiqué on Sunday, AS Monaco announced that Djibril Sidibé (29) will not have his contract extended and will leave the club on 30th June. After the departure of Cesc Fabregas was announced yesterday, the 29 year old right back will also leave the principality side at the end of his contract – as revealed by sources contacted by GFFN in May.

Sidibé arrived at AS Monaco in 2016 from Lille, and has spent five seasons at the club, in-between a loan spell at Everton in 2019/2020. Part of Monaco’s iconic league winning side in 2016/17, the French international scored seven goals and provided 23 assists over his 174 appearances at the club.

However, the 2018 World Cup winner will have to find a new club after a difficult season plagued by injury issues and a lack of game time – Sidibé only made 17 appearances this season, missing out on the Monegasques’ ninengame winning streak to secure a third place finish in Ligue 1.

The club stated in the communiqué that they “thank him for these five seasons, and wish all the best for the future!“
