RMC Sport and Mohamed Toubache-TER report that Ligue 1 outfit Marseille have decided to attempt a deadline day deal with Schalke 04 to bring Moroccan international attacking midfielder Amine Harit back to the club after a loan spell last season.

Harit, 25, is currently under contract with Bundesliga outfit Schalke until 2024, but has been seeking a departure all summer and had been offered to Sevilla in recent days.

In truth, Harit has been a Plan B throughout the window in this position for OM President Pablo Longoria. The Spaniard has instead been focusing on a deal with Atalanta for 29-year-old Ruslan Malinovskyi, but OM have finally accepted that they will not be able to complete a deadline for the player before tomorrow’s deadline, as the Serie A club’s demands are just too high.

Marseille attempted to overcome the fact that they were cash-strapped by offering a cash + player deal involving Cengiz Ünder, but the Turkish international was unsure about making the move.

Inside the club, they are split about whether they should now go full-throttle for Harit or try once more with Malinovskyi, but in any case Longoria has activated Plan B with Harit. Contact has been continuous all summer and the player would love to come back as he has great friendships inside the dressing room. OM feel his profile can fit with Igor Tudor’s system.
