As noted, WWN Live star Matt Riddle has pulled out of numerous upcoming independent dates, leading to speculation that he might be headed to WWE. We reported last week, via The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that WWE does indeed have interest in Riddle, and moments ago PWG announced Riddle has withdrawn from this year’s Battle of Los Angeles tournament. In Riddle’s place will be Impact Wrestling star Trevor Lee.

Earlier today, PWInsider.com issued an update on Riddle’s status, noting that as of now, Riddle is still scheduled for all of his current domestic independent bookings, including the EVOLVE event on August 4th in Philadelphia and, and the event on August 5th in Melrose, MA.

Riddle has been pulled from independent events over SummerSlam weekend, which could indicate WWE might have him seated at ringside for NXT Takeover Brooklyn, however, that remains unconfirmed.

The PWInsider report also confirmed that NJPW has expressed interest in signing Riddle, but again, nothing has been signed as of this writing and it appears as if Riddle’s options remain open.

Matthew Riddle will no longer be a participant in the 2018 Battle of Los Angeles. Trevor Lee has now entered the tournament in his place!
