After weeks of promoting the WWE World Cup as a prestigious tournament to crown “the best in the world”, with some truly incredible talent qualifying in hard-fought contests, WWE has finally found its grand champion of Saudi Arabia…
And it’s Shane McMahon.
No, really — it’s Shane McMahon. The Smackdown Commissioner won the WWE World Cup, Brock Lesnar is once again the Universal Champion, and Shinsuke Nakamura is still cheating his way to victories. Ladies and gentlemen, WWE Crown Jewel.
Dolph Ziggler moved past Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle and Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler on his way to the finals for the Raw brand, while The Miz scored upsets over Jeff Hardy and Rey Mysterio to advance for Team Smackdown.
However, after the A-Lister went down with an injury right before the finals could begin, Shane decided to step in as a substitute for his brand, despite not having qualified or competed at any point in the tournament. And… then he won. Shane McMahon, Best in the World 2018.
