Bill Goldberg was the special guest on an all-new episode of The Broken Skull Sessions, joining Hall of Fame host “Stone Cold” Steve Austin for a sit-down interview following Sunday night’s WWE TLC pay-per-view.
The two discussed Goldberg’s entire career, including some of his greatest and most infamous moments alike. One of those moments included the end of his legendary win streak at the 1998 WCW Starrcade event, where he lost a match and the world title to Kevin Nash, after Scott Hall used a taser gun on him.
For more than two decades fans have discussed this segment among one of the worst in wrestling history, as Goldberg was coming off an unbelievable (albeit incredibly inflated) 173-0 streak of dominance, making him one of, if not the hottest star in the business at the time.
However, in his interview with “Stone Cold”, Goldberg admitted that the taser spot never really bothered him all that much at the time, revealing that he honestly didn’t know enough about the business at the time.
“Honestly man, at that point in my life I didn’t – I just looked at it as a loss. I didn’t big-picture it by any means. I didn’t know enough about the business, and the more you analyze stuff, the more it pisses you off.” … “I didn’t want to lobotomize myself. You do it enough as it is. I didn’t know enough to really pass judgement or realize anything. I really didn’t.”
Now as 2019 comes to a close, Goldberg admits that he looks back and sees the segment as “the ultimate rib”, although he admits that his character finally losing “needed to happen at some point”.
