A New Day vs. Tyson Kidd & Cesaro
After a very elaborate Royal Rumble statistics video package, A New Day makes their way to the ring with a bigger ring introduction than usual. Each guy had a mic and had a few lines. Goofy stuff. We head to a commercial before finding out their opponents.
When we return from the break, we hear Adam Rose’s theme song, see the Rosebuds outside the ring, however Tyson Kidd and Cesaro are the opponents for A New Day, which is being represented by Kofi Kingston and Big E. Adam Rose is also on the floor with the Rosebuds, however he is not part of the match.
The action continues until out of nowhere, Kidd gets knocked off the apron, Cesaro gets rolled up by Kingston. 1-2-3. A New Day wins. After the match, we head to a break.
Winners: A New Day
In-Ring Segment: nWo, The Ascension, A.P.A. and New Age Outlaws
We’re back from the break and out comes the New World Order — the nWo, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Sean Waltman. Hall does his “Hey Yo” and then does the old survey. Nash talks about ego’s. Waltman only gets a few words in until they are interupted.
Out comes The Ascension. They talk down to the nWo and punk them out until things slowly start to get physical. Before things get too out of hand, JBL jumps out of his chair on commentary and dresses down The Ascension. He asks them how dare they do that to these legends. He says he made a call to a legend he happens to know very well.
With that benig said, he rips his shirt off to reveal an A.P.A. t-shirt, and bam, out comes Ron Simmons, a.k.a. Faarooq. The A.P.A. hits the ring but before anything else happens, “Oh you didn’t know?!”
Road Dogg jibber-jabbers as he and Billy Gunn head to the ring. Finally, the legends explode and take out The Ascension. Several of the guys hit their moves. JBL winds his arm up and smiles. Everyone pops. He hits a major clothesline from hell. The nWo, the A.P.A. and the New Age Outlaws celebrate as the nWo music plays. We head to a break.
Backstage: The Authority Reveals John Cena’s Opponent(s)
We return from the commercial break and we see Triple H and Stephanie McMahon backstage. They say it’s time to inform us who John Cena will be facing tonight. They ask for a drum roll first. We see some dude with a drum. HHH says Cena will face Rollins. The drummer stops, which leads The Authority to ask why he stopped. Steph says, “and — the Big Show!” He stops again. They ask him why again. HHH says “and Kane!” The drummer didn’t stop that time, but they were done. Steph tells them he’s fired and to get away. She says she and her husband will be ringside to watch the destruction of Cena — then some dude plays a sad song on a trumpet right in their face. They walk off.
Paige & Natalya vs. Summer Rae & Alicia Fox
We head back inside the arena to the announce table where The Bella Twins have joined Michael Cole, JBL and Booker T on commentary. In the ring already are Paige and Natalya and Alicia Fox and Summer Rae.
It’s time for Divas tag-team action, as the bell sounds to start this one off. Early on, Paige and Summer go at it, but they eventually tag in Nattie and Alicia. Paige gets the tag back in and fires up on offense on Fox.
On commentary, it is announced that at this Sunday’s WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view, Paige and Natalya will team up again to take on The Bella Twins.
Back live in the ring, Paige gets Fox in her submission finisher. Fox taps out. The Bella Twins throw down the headsets on commentary and we have a staredown between the two teams that will be competing this Sunday. After the match, we head to another break.
Winners: Paige & Natalya
