Backstage: Triple H, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, Shawn Michaels, X-Pac, Damien Mizdow & The Miz
Backstage, Triple H is on his cell asking for updates on the WWE App poll when in walks Scott Hall and Kevin Nash — in nWo shirts. They mock him for wearing a suit and tell him to drop the suit and throw on the black and white along with them.
“Actually,” says a voice off-camera, when in walks Shawn Michaels. HBK tells HHH to re-hire Ryback, Rowan and Ziggler and deal with them while they’re hired. HHH makes a joke, then Nash does too. Nash says it’s not a Kliq reunion without X-Pac.
In walks X-Pac, so we think, doing the crotch-chop. In walks the real X-Pac, and we find out it’s Damien Mizdow dressed up as X-Pac. X-Pac approves of him and has a good laugh when in walks The Miz. He says he’s his stunt-double and tells him to go change. Miz does the Kliq hand sign and everyone says “ooooh!” in the crowd. He walks off and Nash asks what kinda show he’s running. He says, “I’m so ashamed.” We head to another commercial.
Royal Rumble Legends Panel: Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels
We return from the break and Byron Saxton is in the ring, which is covered in red carpet and chairs. He welcomes us to the “Royal Rumble Legends Panel.” Out first is Hulk Hogan. Second to come out is Ric Flair. And finally, “The Showstoppa,” Shawn Michaels makes his way to the ring.
Saxton asks the three if Cena should take the offer to risk his title match to get his friends their jobs back. HBK says yes. Flair says no. Hogan says “definitely yes, brother.” That’s literally it. Very entertaining stuff.
The second topic is about the Royal Rumble. Flair starts, and clips are shown of him winning several years ago. Flair goes on a bit of a rant about “Macho Man” Randy Savage being inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame. HBK talks next but doesn’t say much. When it’s Hogan’s turn, he gets up out of his chair and says, “Well, let me tell you something, brother!” He puts over the Rumble match concept in Hogan fashion.
Saxon asks for their predictions on who will win the Rumble this year. HBK goes with Bray Wyatt. Hogan tells HBK he’s not gonna win, calling him “Mr. WrestleMania” in a sarcastic way in the process. HBK stands up and says Hogan is always pushing him. Hogan stands up. HBK says 2005 SummerSlam, let’s do it again, “brother!” Hogan says “you don’t want any of that again, brother!” HBK jokingly says, “you’re probably right” and sits back down. Hogan then predicts Daniel Bryan to win the Rumble. Flair says he likes guys who walk on the wildside and then says he’s going with Dean Ambrose. He stands up and struts around and then lets out a “Woooo!”
Out of nowhere, Big Show’s music hits and out he comes. All three legends stand up as Big Show makes his way to the ring. Big Show reminds all three of them of how he beat them in the past. He then demands that all three leave the ring right now. Flair asks if he’s done. He takes his jacket off and starts chopping him and punching him. Big Show just stands there and doesn’t react. He finally reacts big hitting Flair with a KO punch. He tells the crowd it’s their fault for making him do that and then Roman Reigns’ theme hits and out he comes.
Reigns makes his way to the ring through the crowd as Hogan and HBK help Flair out of the ring. All three are on the floor outside of the ring now as Reigns approaches the ring. He asks if Flair is alright and then enters the ring. Big Show — on the mic — tells him to hold up. He warns Reigns that if he steps in here, something bad is going to happen to him. Reigns and Big Show start going at it. Reigns clotheslines him over the top and out to the floor. Big Show retreats and heads to the back. Reigns helps Hogan and HBK with Flair, who is holding his jaw. They head to the back.
Backstage: Renee Young Gives John Cena The Poll Results
Backstage, we have John Cena with Renee Young. She introduces the results of the WWE App poll. 85 percent says he should take the risk to get his friends get his job back. 15 percent voted that he shouldn’t. Renee asks if that means the WWE Universe really has turned their back on him and wants to see him lose his shot at the Royal Rumble.
Cena says you could look at it that way, or you could look at it in a way that says the fans know he’s going to win. He says either way he’s happy, because he wants to fight. He says he’s going to win and he’ll win again this Sunday. He walks off and we head to another commercial break.
Dean Ambrose vs. Bad News Barrett
Dean Ambrose and WWE Intercontinental Champion Bad News Barrett make their way to the ring for a match. The bell sounds and here we go. Both guys have their moments and then we quickly head to a mid-match commercial.
When we return from the break, Barrett is in complete control of Ambrose. Ambrose starts firing up finally and is nailing Barrett with everything but the kitchen sink — punches, kicks, clotheslines, you name it.
Barrett cuts his comeback short, and starts taking it to Ambrose. He yanks his arm-pad off and switches it inside-out, calling for the Bull Hammer Elbow. Ambrose avoids it and hits Barrett with a double-arm DDT. 1-2-3. Ambrose wins. We head to another commercial after the match.
Winner: Dean Ambrose
