I attended Friday’s live event in Calgary, AB. Here are the results:
(1) The Dudley Boyz & Titus O’Neil def. Heath Slater, Adam Rose & Fandago. Fandango was generating a ton of heel heat while the Dudleys were over with lots of table chants.
(2) Goldust def. Darren Young. Young came out in pink and black attire but was pinned very quickly in less than two minutes.
(3) Paige & Natalya def. Naomi & Tamina Snuka. The guest referee was Alicia Fox. Tamina bickered with the fans at ringside throughout the match. Much of the match saw Team Bad isolate Naomi in their corner, until the hot tag to Natalya. The local favorite won with the Sharpshooter. After the match, Naomi and Tamina attacked Paige and Natalya until Sasha Banks came out for the save to a huge pop.
(4) Chris Jericho, Big Show & Kane def. Luke Harper, Erick Rowan & Braun Strowman. Jericho, as always in Alberta, was very much over with the fans. Fans wanted to see Show in the ring against Strowman and the two went to head-to-head with Show getting the upperhand. Strowman then manhandled Kane a bit. Jericho scored the pin via Codebreaker.
(5) R-Truth def. Stardust. Stardust did an excellent job riling up the audience, even going so far as throwing someone’s popcorn. Also got a lot of “Cody” chants.
(6) Dolph Ziggler def. Tyler Breeze. This was a fantastic match, easily the best of the night. Lots of near falls, but Ziggler prevailed in the end via Zigzag.
(7) Dean Ambrose def. Bray Wyatt to retain his IC Title. Okay match, but tough to follow Ziggler/Breeze. Ambrose won with the Dirty Deeds.
— This was a great event, despite some big names missing. The fans were into pretty much all the matches and the arena appeared about 75% full. All in all, a very enjoyable event – much better than the last one I went to. If you’ve never watched them live, I would highly recommend it. WWE still knows how to put on a great show!
