In what has been nearly as busy a news day for pro wrestling as WWE’s hectic WrestleMania Week schedule, UFC continues to roll out big news that pro wrestling fans will be interested to hear.
In addition to announcing that Brock Lesnar will be returning to the UFC once his WWE contract expires after WrestleMania 34 this Sunday, UFC President Dana White also confirmed CM Punk’s return to the Octagon.
It has been rumored for several weeks now that the former WWE Superstar would be getting a second shot in the UFC at their upcoming UFC 225 pay-per-view in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois on June 9th. When talking with TMZ Sports this week, the UFC boss man made the news official.
Phil “CM Punk” Brooks vs. Mike “The Truth” Jackson is set for UFC 225. The show will feature UFC Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker vs. Interim UFC Middleweight Champion Yoel Romero in a rematch to unify the titles as the main event at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois on Saturday, June 9th.
I just spoke to @TheTruthJackson briefly about what Chicago should expect in his fight vs @CMPunk at #UFC225
“I’m coming in to stake claim in his backyard. Chicago will adopt me as one of their own once I’m done with Phil.”
