As noted, WWE Hall Of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin gave his review of WrestleMania 34 during a recent episode of his Steve Austin Show podcast.
During the show, which featured former WWE writer Court Bauer, “The Texas Rattlesnake” spoke about his issues with WWE putting the RAW World Tag-Team Championships on Braun Strowman and a young fan named Nicholas at their biggest show of the year earlier this month in New Orleans, Louisiana.
“Braun Strowman is over like rover, a lot of potential, a lot of momentum, a lot of great storylines for him, but the fact that he goes out there in the crowd and picks some kid, it’s almost like a disservice to Cesaro and Sheamus who’ve been working their asses off,” said Austin. “Two physical specimens, have really gotten some chemistry together as a team. Not to be taken lightly. Braun’s a big guy, but you know, Cesaro’s one of the strongest guys in the locker room. Sheamus is a brute.”
Austin would go on to elaborate, explaining how it didn’t make business sense for WWE to do such a move, nor did it do anything positive for Sheamus and Cesaro, who joined forces as a tag-team and spent a considerable amount of time getting themselves over only to be perceived as weak on the “Grandest Stage of Them All.”
“They can’t monetize this person who was picked from the crowd,” said Austin. “I don’t know, I wasn’t really down with it, and that’s with respect to a damn good tag team like The Bar. Then Strowman picks someone [from the crowd], I just, man you’re walking a fine line with him because you have this brute-force killer who’s legitimately one of the biggest, strongest men in the world.”
Austin concluded, “It didn’t do much for me.”
