WWE star Yoshihiro Tajiri officially announced that his contract with WWE has expired.  The Former ECW star had returned to the company for the Cruiserweight Class tournament last year and was signed to the company full time shortly thereafter. However shortly after debuting on 205 Live and being set up in a feud with The Brian Kendrick, he suffered a knee injury.
Taijiri was cleared to return but spent his time helping out as a trainer at the WWE’s performance center instead. The 46 year old who, had already semi-retired at one point, decided against another full time run with the company due to his age.
Taijiri first worked for the WWE in the early 90s as an enhancement talent before going to ECW andhaving memorable matches with Super Crazy and a feud with Taz. He was ECW TV and ECW tag team champion with Mikey Whipwreck before coming back to the WWE. When ECW closed he went to the WWE in 2001. He also served a long stint in Japan working for various promotions including New Japan, All Japan, HUSTLE, and Wrestle-1.

He announced in early April that he did not intend to come back to TV and would let hs contract expire. Outside of the ring he has trained many wrestlers over the years (including New Japan’s Kushida), and is also trained in acupuncture.
