Cow slaughter has become one of the most grave issues in India. It is not only leading to communal disharmony but is also instigating violence and lynchings in the states.
This year has witnessed a number of lynchings that were caused by fake WhatsApp threads that were circulated by fringe groups. Cow in India has become so important that last week the Uttar Pradesh government decided to prioritise the killing of a cow instead of one of their own, a police officer Subodh Kumar Singh who got killed in Bulandshahr violence.
