Rachel Bilson has an exciting new television gig! The O.C. alum has reportedly joined the cast of CMT’s Nashville. Her character in the beloved country music series is set to debut in the second half of Season 5.
Bilson won’t be the only new addition to the show for the remainder of the fifth season. Empire‘s Kaitlin Doubleday also announced that she’ll be joining the show in the wake of Connie Britton’s recent exit. How big their roles are and whether we can expect to hear both ladies sing, remains to be seen.
“We welcome Rachel and Kaitlin into our incredibly talented ensemble,” series co-showrunner Marshall Herskovitz told The Hollywood Reporter. “We fondly anticipate the second half of the season filled with surprising twists and turns that make Nashville so beloved by the fans.”
Both Bilson and Doubleday broke the news on Instagram, along with a few subtle hints about their new roles.
“Music city here I come,” Bilson captioned her ‘gram of the entrance to the offices of the show’s fictional Highway 65 record label. At the same time, Doubleday shared a picture of the show’s iconic The Bluebird Cafe, writing “This will definitely be a change of pace!”
