With heavy hearts, Kate Middleton, Prince William, and Prince Harry made their way to London’s Westminster Abbey for a multi-faith Service of Hope Wednesday morning. The service, which was reportedly attended by 1,800 people, was held in honor of the four people killed during the London terror attack on March 22.
After laying a wreath of red and white blooms at the Innocent Victims memorial, the royals spoke briefly with Mayor Sadiq Khan and Metropolitan Police acting commissioner Craig Mackey. The wreath, which was offered by the Duke of Cambridge, included a note with a hand-written message that reads: “For PC Keith Palmer, and all those who have served our community so valiantly. Your legacy is our way of life. William.”

Before the service, Home Secretary Amber Rudd shared a few words. “Today’s Service of Hope marks two weeks since a cowardly attacker tried—and failed—to divide the people and the communities of London and cause us to live in fear and suspicion,” she said. “But we were not cowed, and we did not give in to terror.”
The duchess dressed appropriately for the somber affair in a black and gray patterned coat dress and a stylish black fascinator perched atop an elegant chignon. Sheer black tights, black pumps, and a pair of pearl drop earrings finished her look.
