The First Lady, 48, underwent the procedure at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland on Monday morning, and she is expected to remain at the hospital for the duration of the week as she recovers.
“The First Lady looks forward to a full recovery so she can continue her work on behalf of children everywhere,” reads the statement.
Just last week, Melania unveiled her official campaign as First Lady called Be Best, the goal of which is to help American children by addressing well-being, social media use as well as the opioid crisis. During the program’s launch at the White House Rose Garden, FLOTUS gave an 11-minute speech, her longest since assuming the role of First Lady, according to CNN.
CNN’s Kaitlan Collins reports that as of Monday afternoon, President Trump has not yet visited Walter Reed.
