With the Premier League season now into February, top-flight players are starting to run the risk of being banned.
An accumulation of 10 yellow cards will result in that player having to complete a two-match suspension, a penalty that often causes major headaches for managers.
Southampton’s Oriol Romeu lead the way last season with 11 cautions while Burnley’s Ashley Barnes, Abdoulaye Doucoure of Watford and Arsenal star Granit Xhaka all picked up 10.
Several stars are edging towards the suspension mark this term and could face a stint on the sidelines in the coming weeks.
Jose Holebas of Watford and Bournemouth’s Jefferson Lerma are just one yellow card away from a ban while the likes of Manchester United full-back Luke Shaw and West Ham’s Robert Snodgrass are close too.
