Adrian Durham has urged football fans to pray for Tottenham Hotspur and insists their season is DONE.

After thrashing Leicester City at home, Spurs went and lost 2-1 to Burnley on Saturday to surely put any suggestions of a late surge towards the Premier League title to bed.

Before the game at Turf Moor, Durham claimed a first league title since 1961 would be well within Spurs’ grasp.

But now, with Liverpool and Manchester City seemingly pulling away from the north Londoners, Durham believes Europa League football beckons for Mauricio Pochettino’s men next season.

He said: “Last week, I laid out exactly how the title could be in Spurs’ hands by now and of course, as predicted, they lost their way when they lost at Burnley.

“So I’m going to go with the reverse psychology for Tottenham and it may work in their favour. I’m going to give Spurs their nightmare scenario.

“If they lose at Chelsea tonight [Wednesday], then lose at home to Arsenal on Saturday lunchtime live on talkSPORT – the Gunners, the enemy, the big rivals of Tottenham will probably be a point behind them.

“Manchester United may well be two points behind them, Chelsea could be four points behind them and with a game in hand as well! So all of a sudden, that top four place looks a little bit in jeopardy.

“Spurs have the three-week break we talked about last week in March so players will either come back to Premier League action either rusty through inactivity or tired and injured from international duty.

“They then got to Liverpool, then they got to Manchester City and then West Ham are at the new stadium to mess Tottenham up! So there’s big problems up ahead for Tottenham Hotspur, especially if they lose these next two games.

“Tottenham are DONE! This is my worst case scenario for Tottenham – stick a fork in them, they are done.

“They won’t finish in the top four, they will however have the best stadium in the Europa League next season. And we all know Spurs wouldn’t win the title, there were conversations between people who were being polite.

“Did anybody believe that could happen? Of course not, we all knew they were going to lose at Burnley and it happened.”

With the new stadium still not completed and with such a difficult run of fixtures to come, the Lilywhites are going to have to produce a spectacular run of results and hope their rivals slip up.

Having qualified for Europe’s elite competition for the past three seasons, Durham urged listeners on Drivetime to ‘pray for Spurs’ as they possibility of having to settle for Thursday night football in Azerbaijan next season looms ominously over the club.

“Listen, failure to make the top four would be peak ‘Spurs-iness’. People; let’s show some respect here,” he continued.

“I don’t want to be digging out Tottenham, I don’t want to be all negative – this is why it’s the reverse psychology. What I said last week worked against them, it backfired.

“So this time, I’m hoping it brings a bit of joy into Spurs fan’s lives.

Let’s show some respect though, let’s give up some silence right now. Put your hands quietly together football and pray for Spurs.

“They’re going to need your help through these weeks!”
