Brendan Rodgers’ odds to become the next Leicester City manager have been slashed.

Claude Puel was sacked by the Foxes on Sunday morning following their 4-1 drubbing by Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

It was the final straw for those in charge of the club after picking up just one point in their last six games and crashing out of the FA Cup to Newport County.

According to Oddschecker, the early money is being place on current Celtic manager Rodgers with 34 per cent of bets going his way.

His odds on getting the job have been cut from 2/1 to 10/11.

The 46-year-old insisted he was fully focused on his work at the Glasgow club and is pursuing a third consecutive treble in his third season at the club.

The second favourite is former Huddersfield manager David Wagner, who’s 5/1 to be appointed next permanent Foxes boss.

Ex-Leicester assistant manager Michael Appleton is third the market at 11/2. Meanwhile, Rafael Benitez is high up in the market at 20/1.

Oddschecker spokesman George Elek said: “The news of Claude Puel’s sacking comes as no surprise with Leicester way out of the picture this season.

“Rodgers looks the sensible choice, but it remains to be seen if he’d part with Celtic. You never know, with Fulham looking dead and buried, the stars might just be aligning for a Ranieri return at 100/1.”

Selected odds on next Leicester City boss:

Brendan Rodgers – 10/11

Michael Appleton – 11/2

Sean Dyche – 8/1

Neil Lennon – 10/1

Nigel Pearson – 16/1

Chris Wilder – 20/1

Rafa Benitez – 20/1
