Nantes have been fined for the use of flares during tributes to Emiliano Sala in January.
Fans of the French club set off flares and held up a giant banner of the striker during a clash against Saint-Etienne – the first fixture after he disappeared last month.
And the French Football League have since fined the Ligue 1 side 16,000 euros (£14,400) for the incident due to the use of smoke.
Sala died when the light aircraft carrying him from Nantes to Cardiff crashed into the English Channel on January 21, just two days after he completed a £15million move to the Welsh capital.
In the first game following the confirmation of his death, against Nimes, Nantes let off pyrotechnics to pay tribute to the 28-year-old.
The FFL have also issued a smaller fine of 4,500 euros (£3,900) for the incident during the Nimes game for ‘use of pyrotechnics and throwing objects’.
Sala scored 48 goals in 133 games for Nantes, including 12 Ligue 1 goals this season before he agreed to join Cardiff.
Meanwhile, the family of the Argentine striker could miss out on £600,000 due to an administrative error made by Cardiff when registering his contract.
According to The Times, the Premier League asked for Sala to sign the papers again after corrections were made, but he tragically died before he was able to do so.
The mistake could mean that Sala’s family miss out on the Professional Footballers’ Association’s pension scheme, which includes a £600,000 death-in-service payment to families.
Pilot David Ibbotson, the only other person on board the flight, is still missing.
Paris Saint-Germain and France star Kylian Mbappe has donated £27,000 to help fund the search for the missing pilot.
