Former Manchester United star Andrei Kanchelskis has told Paul Pogba to step up against Liverpool and prove he’s the leader the club needs.

The Red Devils face their toughest challenge since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took the role as interim manager and will want to continue their unbeaten league run against their fierce rivals.

French World Cup winner Pogba has been instrumental to their impressive run of form and has eight goals and five assists since mid-December, having been one of the most criticised players under former boss Jose Mourinho.

And Kanchelskis wants the divisive midfielder to invoke the spirit of clubs like Roy Keane and show himself as a leader of men when they host Liverpool on Sunday.

He told 888sport in an exclusive interview: “Everybody is talking about Paul Pogba and how he performs in the big games.

“Now we will see against Liverpool, in a big derby against an excellent team.

“At the moment he is no leader. In the past we had the likes of Roy Keane and Steve Bruce, Eric Cantona. These were leaders.

“At the moment Manchester United don’t have one.”
