Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed Nemanja Matic will be out for a couple of weeks owing to a muscle injury.
Matic was absent from the Manchester United squad to face Liverpool on Sunday, with Scott McTominay taking his place in the starting line-up.
And ahead of his side’s crunch clash against their arch rivals, Solskjaer confirmed Matic had picked up a muscle injury – hinting he could miss United’s crunch clash with Paris Saint-Germain on March 6.
“It’s a big blow, he’s had a muscle injury so will be out for a few weeks,” he revealed.
“Nemanja with his experience and his performances lately had been vital for us.
“Scott has played these games before and knows this fixture a lot as an academy lad.”
Solskjaer has an injury crisis on his hands at Old Trafford, with Ander Herrera and Juan Mata both forced off injured in the first half at Old Trafford.
Jesse Lingard, on his return from injury, was also withdrawn after just 20 minutes having replaced Mata himself.
It was the first time since February 2009 that four substitutions has been made in the first half of a top-flight game.
