Jadon Sancho helped Borussia Dortmund get their Bundesliga title charge back on track by beating Bayer Leverkusen 3-2.

England winger Sancho restored Dortmund’s advantage with his ninth goal of the season after Leverkusen forward Kevin Volland cancelled out Dan-Axel Zagadou’s first-half opener.

Mario Gotze scored Dortmund’s third on the hour-mark and although Leverkusen reduced the deficit again through Jonathan Tah’s header, Lucien Favre’s side held on to secure their first league win in four matches.

The victory lifts leaders Dortmund three points clear of closest rivals Bayern Munich, who had climbed level on Saturday after their 1-0 home win against Hertha Berlin.

Having beaten Hannover 5-1 on 26 January, Dortmund had drawn three league games and were also knocked out of the German Cup on penalties by Werder Bremen and beaten 3-0 at Wembley by Tottenham in the Champions League.

Manchester United have most recently been linked with a £70million move for the 18-year-old, who joined Dortmund from Man City in 2017 for £8m.

Prior to his move, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admitted the club were also keen on signing Sancho and even hinted at making another attempt in the future.
