Former West Ham defender Tomas Repka has been sentenced to nine months in jail for drink-driving.

A Prague-west county court turned two previous suspended drink-driving sentences into jail terms due to his other criminal convictions.

The 45-year-old was convicted of fraud and sentenced to 15 months in prison just two weeks ago.

Repka, who joined West Ham in a £5.5million deal from Fiorentina in 2001 and made 167 appearances in a six-year spell, has appealed both verdicts.

The ex-Czech Republic international, who won 46 caps for his country, also received a six-month jail sentence for pretending to be his wife, without her knowledge, online and offering sexual services last year.

Repka played 51 times for the Hammers as they won the Championship play-off final to seal their return to the Premier League in the 2004/05 campaign.
