Everton have made an approach to sign out-of-favour Paris Saint-Germain defender Thomas Meunier, according to reports.

Toffees boss Marco Silva is on the lookout for a right-back after dropping Seamus Coleman.

The Republic of Ireland captain has lost his starting place to youngster Jonjoe Kenny in recent defeats to Manchester City and Watford.

And French publication Le10 Sport claim Everton chiefs have contacted PSG about signing Meunier, whose deal runs out in 2020.

The Belgium international, 27, is behind Dani Alves and Thilo Kehrer in the pecking order at the Parc des Princes – and could be keen on a move to Goodison Park.

Last year, Meunier revealed he would take a “step down” to join Everton in order to improve his playing time.

He told Belgian outlet RTBF: “Go down a notch? What does that mean?

“What I want is to play football. I still have two years left of contract in Paris and my goal is to stay in Paris. We like it a lot.

“It’s playing in a club in the style of Everton, Valencia or Dortmund.

“Michy Batshuayi made a very good choice by going there [to Valencia]. The pleasure is to play football and that’s what I miss for now.”
