Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has dropped his first-choice goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga for Wednesday night’s visit of Tottenham.

The Spaniard was at the centre of an extraordinary incident against Manchester City at the weekend as he defied orders from his boss and refused to be substituted.

As a result, Kepa was fined one week’s wages and publicly apologised to both his manager and his teammates the following day.

Now it appears his punishment has been furthered with Willy Caballero taking his place for Chelsea’s crucial London derby clash against Spurs.

Maurizio Sarri explained to BT Sport: “It’s a choice, it’s a message for my group.”

When asked exactly what that message is, the manager replied: “We are a group and not 25 players. It’s my choice.”
