Angry Celtic fans had a message for their now former manager Brendan Rodgers on Wednesday night.

The new Leicester boss left Celtic Park out of the blue on Tuesday, with the club in the middle of another treble chase.

Rodgers won back-to-back domestic trebles with the club in the past two seasons and was in contention to remarkably repeat the feat once again this year.

However, he instead opted to take the vacant Foxes job after Claude Puel left the King Power.

Celtic appointed Neil Lennon as interim boss in response.

Brendan Rodgers’ shock departure has left a bitter taste in the mouths of many of his old side’s fans, which was evident among their away support at Hearts.

Before kick-off, the fans unveiled a banner which read: “You traded immortality for mediocrity.

“Never a Celt. Always a fraud.”

In contrast, Rodgers praised Celtic after completing his move to Leicester, saying: “I have been a Celtic supporter all my life and the reason I came to Glasgow was to work for the club I had such love and affection for.

“From the moment I walked into Celtic Park I have been living my dream and, together with the players, staff and supporters, we have been on an amazing journey, which I will never forget.

“Celtic is in great hands for the future and I am sure the club is in a wonderful position to continue to dominate Scottish football and do well in Europe, I know that will be the aim of everyone at the club.

“Celtic will always be my club and I wish everyone connected to Celtic – the Board of Directors, the staff and, of course, the Celtic supporters – every success in the future.”
