Brendan Rodgers is WRONG to leave Celtic and become the new manager of Leicester City at this stage of the season, according to talkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan.
The former Celtic boss has been confirmed as the new manager of the Foxes on a contract until 2022, replacing Claude Puel, who was sacked on Sunday.
The Northern Irishman’s first game in charge of his new club is for their trip to Watford on Sunday, who Rodgers managed briefly in the 2008/09 season.
But while Leicester are floating around in mid-table, Celtic are aiming to make history this season with a ‘treble-treble’ still to play for.
And Jordan is adamant Rodgers should not have been allowed to leave the Glasgow club with two months of the campaign remaining, suggesting the clubs should have struck a deal to stall the move until the summer.
Speaking to Jim White before Rodgers’ appointment was confirmed, Jordan said: “There’s an element of a lack of professional courtesy about this.
“I don’t think it’s going to make much difference to Leicester’s season to take him now.
“They’re not going to get relegated and they’re not going to get in the top six.
“Celtic afforded Brendan an opportunity when his stock wasn’t that high and I think he’s done a great job.
“I know that ultimately Brendan should have an opportunity to advance his career, and I’m all for people doing that, but you’re two months away from the end of the season.
“I think he should finish this season and Celtic and Leicester should work out a deal that enables him to do that.”
