A parody Brendan Rodgers account has been involved in a hilarious Twitter exchange with the Royal Mail – and it’s not for the first time.
Rodgers, who has left his post at Celtic to take charge of Leicester City, is parodied in a famous Twitter account under the moniker ‘Deluded Brendan’ which has built up almost 350k followers.
And on the first morning of the Northern Irishman’s new job, ‘Deluded Brendan’ thought to ask the postal service where to find envelopes in light of the manager’s famous trick at Liverpool.
In 2012, Rodgers famously told his Liverpool players that three of them would let him down and that their names were written down in envelopes – in order to motivate them to play well for the season ahead.
The trick was caught on camera for the television series ‘Being Liverpool’, along with many of Rodgers’ other managerial quirks.
And in this exchange, ‘Deluded Brendan’ sought advice on which Foxes stars should comprise the names in the envelopes.
The account posted: “Hi there @RoyalMail . Could you please send me the address of your main post office in Leicester?. Was hoping to buy some envelopes. Thanks Brendan.”
The Royal Mail replied to explain how find packaging materials – to which the spoof account responded: “Ok Thanks. I’m thinking Gray, Maguire and Vardy should go in them what do you think?”
This isn’t the first instance the parody account has been involved in a Twitter exchange with the Royal Mail.
‘Deluded Brendan’ once had a ‘serious issue’ with the Royal Mail when Rafael Benitez took charge of Real Madrid.
Have a look at the exchange below…
He has been regularly posting on Twitter since Rodgers’ appointment as the new chief at the King Power and expressed his happiness with the Foxes’ 2-1 win over Brighton on Tuesday night– which the former Celtic boss watched from the stands.
‘Deluded Brendan’ also stated his disappointment at not being able to tweet about beating Scottish opponents anymore.
Now Rodgers is back in the Premier League it’s fair to say we won’t be short of more entertaining content over the coming months.
